Steve Welty has a unquie gift of picking horses that are not only beautiful, but very talented too. He has been training horses for over 15 years now and likes to start colts and teach them the basics for a solid foundation in whatever discipline they go on to. One of the training tools he uses is a mechanical cow. He teaches the young horse to work the cow without a rider. Steve says, "It helps the young horse to focus on a job without the distraction of a rider." Later, after they are under saddle and working a live cow, they adapt to more advance stages of training quicker and with less chance of injury.
Steve also has a small broodmare band of six mares that he intends on breeding to his upcoming stallion. Some of the broodmares pedigrees inludes names like, Doc Hickory, Smart Chic Olena, King Fritz, Galleo Del Cielo, aka "Rooster", Doc Quixote, a third generation Hollywood Gold, Northern Dancer and Secretariat. Steve's plan for SRW Performance Horses is to breed a horse that can be used in competition for cutting, working cow horse, reining or roping...... in other words, a versatile cow horse.

We look forward to more horses that Steve will provide for us and are in anticipation of their upcoming stallion, Colonel Redneck, a 2004 AQHA Palomino Stallion by Jimmez Playboy (Freckles Playboy) and out of Freckles of Gold (Colonel Freckles).

			In Memory of: SCR Haidin Again 2005 AQHA Chestnut Sttallion Sire: Haidas Little Pep by Peppy San Badger Dam: Guess Again Peppy by Peppy San Badger deceased Janurary 2007
			SRW Performance Horses purchased this stallion in Texas and was going to stand him at stud at their place in Corvallis, Montana. Unfortunately, he passed away from colic in January 2007. He was a very kind, beautiful stallion and would have brought a big asset to the quarter horse industry. We will miss him.
