M R Bar Quarter Horses and Paints is a family run horse and cattle ranch located in Darby, Montana in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley. Owned and operated by Randy and Coral Maxwell, their primary focus is to breed, raise and train quality horses with intelligence, disposition, conformation, and cow sense for ranch, traill and arena use. Their stallion, Sail Win Silver (Sly), is a gray 91% foundation bred AQHA horse and is the basis for their breeding program.
With Randy's love for team roping, Corals' passion for reining and both their fondness for trail riding, this mixture has proved to be a wonderful combination for their horse-training program from foundation to finished.
Their horses, which have been sold throughout the United States, are proudly represented through Bitterroot Equine Marketing Services, LLC.
Once again, Coral and Misty wins.....This is the picture taken after the win at the YRHA II Non Pro Open and Non Pro Intermediate classes in July 2006. At the Rexburg show earlier in October 2006, Misty exceeded the $10,000 LTE in NRHA money. Jerry Fowler and Coral rode her to these earnings. Jerry in the Open classes and Coral in the Non Pro Open classes since 2002.

Coral competed year long in NRHA classes, qualifying through the Affiliate Regional Finals, in South Jordan Utah, to represent Montana in the 2004 Futurity held in Oklahoma City, OK. and became the 2004 Reseve World Champion NRHA Rookie of the Year, on her mare, Smart Misty Bar (shown here).

Randy is a very supportive husband and a great team roper. He spends a lot of his time riding the colts that Coral starts. But his real passion is to be roping on their stallion, Sly. Their ranch in Darby, is built to support both of their passions of roping and reining and it is backed by uncountless miles of the Bitterroot/Selway wilderness.

Dear Debbie,
Quick update on how Copper and Libby (Mr Two Eyed Charmer and MR Doc Bars Diamond) are doing here in Minnesota. Both have hit the local team sorting and penning scene, done tons of trail riding and camping.....through rivers, hop right over big logs, up and down our Midwestern "hills", through small towns and even suburban housing construction zones. We ride them around all sorts of farm equipment, tractors, trucks, power washers and such, and they yawn. This past weekend, we rode by a tractor pulling a huge pontoon boat out of our local lake, a pretty odd site even for the riders....but Copper hardly tilted his ear towards the "monster." He loves to swim, carries a flag, we throw a rope off him and he pulls a snow saucer around for kids in the winter. He revs up for competition and then gently walks around the arena for friends who want "a ride on a horse." Libby is also doing dressage and loose rein with our dressage friends who comment on their rhythm, willing way of going, and suppleness. I will be putting a harness on Copper and hitching him up to a sleigh and cart this winter....will let you know how that goes. I expect he may even do some driving competitions next spring!
I love your site, it is at the top of my "favorites" list....I check out the new horses and plan for my next purchase. We couldn't be happier with the experience and results of buying horses from you....so expect us back for more! I keep in touch with the Maxwell's and tell them how much we appreciate the breeding and training they put on these guys. They stand out amongst the horses here in Minnesota.....
