Midwest Mustang Challenge

Kathi McConnell and "Classic Edition"
"Classic Edition" was removed from her home on federal land in Nevada and selected to participate in the Midwest Mustang Challenge, sponsored by the Mustang Heritage Foundation. Her trainer, Kathi McConnell of Florence, Montana is among fifty trainers nation wide who was chosen to use her expert horsemanship to turn this beautiful wild horse into a willing, talented and gentle mount, all within 100 days.
After developing mutual trust between horse and trainer and 250 plus hours of intensive training, three-year-old "Classic Edition" has learned to trailer, halter, step over poles, shake her head "no", count and bow. Kathi has already ridden her bareback, English and Western. The most impressive part of the training is that Classic Edition has gone from an agrressive wild horse to a calm, highly social and loving equine partner.
Kathi hopes to refine all of those skills and qualitites so that she and Classic Edition can successfully compete in "Dancing With The Horses" on April 18, 2008 in Madison, Wisconsin. The ultimate benefit for Classic Edition is to be auctioned to someone who wants to provide a good home for a well trained, loving and beautiful mustang. Kathi predicts that one day soon, Classic Edition will be an ideal mount for a young girl who is interested in an equine partner to participate in Westerm Pleasure or Trail Riding.
The potental benefits for Classic Edition's trainer, Kathi, is the opportunity to receive bragging rights and a modest financial reward for winning the equine competition. The largest benefit is the opportunity for the Mustang Heritage Foundation to showcase and help preserve a symbol of American heritage, the mustang.
All of Kathi's time and efforts to care for Classic Edition are at her own expense and we at Bitterroot Equine Marketing applaud her for this sacrifice. The biggest challenge Kathi has experienced during this process is to find sponsors to offset the many expenses associated with transportation and care for Classic Edition. During her stay in Montana, Classic Edition is boarded at The Natural Horse, LLC, located in Florence, Montana.
