Big Sky Bison, LLP is proud to raise and offer American Quarter Horses and American Plains Bison. The Big Sky Bison Ranch is a family operation supported by bison expert and commercial hay producer, Wade Hendrickson,
Wade with Annie
equine breeding expert and amateur/non-pro NCHA cutting competitor Lisa Hendrickson, Wade and Lisa's young daughter and future ranch manamgement expert Kyia, horse training expert and former bronc rider Shane Hendrickson, Shane's wife and ranch coordinator Shelley, and Shane and Shelley's five children, Misty, Jarod, Rosie, Aspen and Maximus.
The Big Sky Bison horse operation specializes in breeding, raising, and training performance horses sired by their cutting stallion Spook Charmer. They often have horses for sale that they have raised, trained, and worked there on the ranch.
Big Sky Bison is located on three thousand plus acres in Saint Ignatius, Montana bordering the National Bison Range. They are lucky to have many miles of steep mountain foothills and open range pastures where they ride their horses every day. When their colts are ready, they take them out of the arena and they learn to handle the challenges of the trails and more importantly, how to work quietly and confidently in wide open spaces.

Shane Hendrickson has been training horsees professionally for over five years. Shane is blessed with a genuine gift to train, he has incredible patience and a true love for the equine animal, whatever the breed may be. Shane uses his own unique blend of natural horsemanship, true cowboy and Christian faith to develop a horse and build and honest foundation for that horses's future career. In addition to working and training the Big Sky Bison horses, Shane Hendrickson trains horses for the general public. Outside horses are worked right along side the ranch horses here at Big Sky Bison and get all the benefit of the ranch experience while they are in professional training.
The Bison or Buffalo operation consists of about one hundred head of buffalo. They sell their bison meat directly to the public at wholesale prices in wholes, halves, and quarters. They custom cut and wrap their meat orders to fit a family's personal needs. Their buffalo are ranch raised and fed only hay that is produced right there on The Big Sky Bison's ranch making them as 'naturally raised' as possible. They do not use hormones or vaccines and all the bison are grass fed and harvested in a stress free field harvest which ultimately produces their premium bison meat.
Look for Big Sky Bison horses at the next equine event you attend, horses sired by Spook Charmer are currently showing successfully and earning money in the NCHA, NRHA, NRCHA, and Barrel Racing arenas.
"We are committed to producing and training top quality performance horses and ranch products in a positive loving family atmosphere. We invite you to come by and ride with us!" The Hendricksons.

"Spook" was unshown due to an injury he sustained as a weanling when three vertebrae in his withers were crushed, causing permanent nerve damage. With maturity he has been able to overcome this injury and was shown for the first time in 2003 at National Cutting Horse Association events. He has been very successful. Spook has earned $3,133 in NCHA money, qualified for the NCHA Western National Championships twice, and was awarded the NCHA's Certificate of Ability with very limited showing.
He accomplished all of this while being prepared and whon by Lisa Hendrickson, an Amateur competitor. Spook Chamrmer has already produced an NCHA money earner and has more foals headed to the show pen in 2006/2007.
Spook offers incredible bloodlines, athletic ability, beautiful confirmation, brains and a can-do attitude.
