Let me take a moment to define a "ranch horse." He/she is not a horse that drags its nose in the ground at a slow trot or lope. These are horses that have a job to do, are picking up their feet across rocks, cactus, logs, sticks, are being roped on to do a job doctoring cattle or horses, they have to earn their keep in the remuda and they are very well educated. They look where they are going and help you to get a job done without getting concerned about things that would scare most other horses. If I market a horse from a trainer that says it is a "Ranch horse" then you can be rest assured that that horse has more experience than any arena horse can get in a lifetime. Arena horses have their place in people's life, but you cannot expect a ranch horse to act like a arena horse, just like you can't expect a arena horse to accept things that a ranch horse can.
